Symphonic Manoeuvres | Computer Music Magazine

Symphonic manoeuvres is a kind of cinematic construction kit affair, heavily focussed on orchestra sounds. It was recorded live with an actual orchestra, and it certainly sounds big, loud and expensive - just what you want from this kind of thing. The pieces themselves are great, and while they sometimes lapse into pastiche (task improbable, anyone?) the quality is generally extremely high. It'd be nice to get a few more individual performances rather than having the instruments lumped together most of the time, but niggles aside this is a great collection and a welcome return to form for Big Fish Audio.
