Retro Drums: Disco, Funk and Old School Loops | Future Music Magazine

The Retro Drums library contains 245 live recordings, comprising a total of 985MB of Apple Loops, REX and WAV files, with an additional Installer app to convert the samples for RMX use. There are four folders of loops, organized into single hits (I'd prefer a more generous collection here), as well as Disco, Modern Funk and Old School categories. The loops are nicely played by Steven Parsons and well recorded, and will appeal to anyone looking to bring the sounds of yesteryear to their productions. Sourcing suitable loops for pastiche-influenced projects is easy; titles in the Disco folder include Superstition and Let's Dance, for instance, so honing those groovy-assed searches is simple. The classic Funky Drummer pattern, made famous by Clyde Stubblefield and rinsed by just about everyone, is replayed in the Old School folder, which is useful. In short, this isn't only a library with the past in mind, as today's RnB producers will enjoy the sounds in the Modern Funk collection too. A super solid library, then.
