Vintage Horns 2 | Sounds And GearBack to Vintage Horns 2 product details
What is Vintage Horns 2?
This is a Kontakt library aimed at capturing the soulful, jazzy, vintage vibe of horn instruments and sections from the 60s and 70s.
It’s not about being pristine and orchestral, but it’s about the warmth, the vibe, and the character of horn sounds on old movies and records from that era.
The small imperfections and subtle quirks that gave these players and records their sound were the goal and intention in terms of what this library was meant to be.
It is also ready to be controlled in Maschine and Komplte Kontrol thanks to it’s NKS integration.
Content: 15 patches, 1.95GB
Format: Kontakt 5, Kontakt 5 Player, NKS
How does it sound?
I’m a fan of Funk/Soul and their product lines, especially when they are tackling the vintage styles.
The horns have that soulful character that we love from older records, the same type of stuff people like to sample.
The way you can quickly change the articulations makes it easy to adapt the sounds to your own playing style, and I love the fact that they are not trying to be the most “accurate” in terms of pristine sampling or sound.
The dirty, gritty, “worn” sound of the instruments makes them fit great into any situation where a little bit of vintage texture is needed.
So what's the bottom line?
I liked the first version of Vintage Horns and this is a great follow up.
Overall I give this version 4 out of 5 subs, the interface is clean, the articulation switching is simple, and the sound is exactly what you’d expect.
If I had one complaint, it would be that I’d still love to see more flutes! Hey! I love flutes!
But at the end of the day, this is a library that allows you to add that vintage sample vibe to your productions without worrying about sample clearance and royalties.
