So what is Ambient White?

It’s a Kontakt instrument dedicated to ambient, organic, peaceful melodic textures and instruments.

It’s focus is on the lighter side of sound design, soft, airy, almost a “floating” feeling.

It runs in the Kontakt Player and has a very simple yet useful interface.

This is something that can be useful for everyone from composers to producers, sound designers, media composers and more.

You know what I say, if it sounds good, use it, no matter what it was intended for!

So how does it sound?

The first thing I noticed about the library is how organic it was.

Meaning, you can tell the sounds are built from real acoustic instruments and not just a bunch of synthesizers.

Don’t get me wrong, I dig a good synth myself, but I feel like ambiences and textures take on a totally different feel when they are built from acoustic/instrumental sources.

The pads are complex, enough that sometimes one key at a time is all you need, the melodic instruments still have a touch of ambience and air to them, even the bass has the low end you want yet retains that ambient character.

The drum kits are nice, and can be used as general purpose kits when you turn off the delay…or leave it on, it’s all good!

I also liked the looped instruments, there were some really great key and guitar based loops that had a nice feel.

On top of all that, you get a bunch of layered instruments, and the layers are great as the mix the pads and melodics with perc and some of the fx (which are great as well)

Overall it has a nice light feel to it.

So what’s the bottom line?

If you like ambient textures and soft melodic instruments, go check this out.

Like I mentioned before, I love the acoustic nature of the instruments, even though they are sound design elements, the “instrumental” origin really gives it a nice feel.

Overall I give Ambient White 4.5 out of 5 subs, it’s a great library with plenty of content to keep fans of ambient styles inspired.

It would be cool to see another page with some modulation options like lfo sequenced fx, but even the simple interface lends something immediately usable to the instrument.

I’m also looking forward to the companion library “Ambient Dark”…even though the lighter side of ambient is more my style, I’m always a sucker for great sounds.
