So what is Epic?

It's a collection of cinematic styled drums, hits, percussion, and various sound design elements.

This one sports a very simple interface and the sounds are geared towards composers or sound designers in film, media, games, trailers, web design, and advertising music styles.

Of course, as with anything, it's not limited to those styles, but that gives you an idea of what to expect from the content.

It works in the free Kontakt Player 5 so you don't have to own the full verison of Kontakt to use it.

So how does it sound?

The hits and loops seem to have a natural sound to them if that makes sense.

Like even with the reverb, they aren't overly covered in effects so you still get the character of the actual instruments.

I like that within the kits you get the loops on one end of the keyboard and also the single hits, this gives you much more flexibility when working with the sounds.

Speaking of FX, there isn't much in that regard programmed into the interface. They keep it very simple with high/low eq, pitch control, and a reverb knob.

You do get to pick between various convolution reverb settings which can actually change up your sound pretty quickly without much work.

I did find a few of the samples to have some clicky release noise, nothing that couldn't be fixed with the envelope settings but it's something I noticed on about 3 or 4 samples in total.

Overall it has a great sound and I feel the inclusion of the multi-sampled instruments really gives the library more versatility than if it were simply the single hits and loops by themselves.

I would probably say that those multi instruments are my favorite part of the library.

So what's the bottom line?

If you're someone that's working in media, film, or composing game music then you can never have enough of these types of sounds in my opinion.

I think this library aims at being quick and simple to use, while still providing good quality.

I give Epic 4 out of 5 subs, it's a library that delivers plenty of cinematic hits, effects, loops, and instruments to spice up many productions.

The interface is simple but I didn't feel that it was really lacking given the actual content itself, which doesn't require much tweaking at all.

Sometimes keeping it simple can provide exactly what you need in crunch time.
